WWE Birthday Party

For my son’s 11-year-old birthday party, I did a WWE theme since he was the ultimate John Cena. My son’s party was in April, which was the same month as WrestleMania XXVIII that featured the ultimate battle of John Cena vs. The Rock. Since the main event of WrestleMania XXVIII was the match between The Rock and Cena, I used that as the premises of his party.  Starting with:

WWE Invitations – I decided to create ticket style invitations. I used Microsoft Publisher to create the invitations on a 8.5 x 11 high quality paper which yielded 4-tickets/page. The two images below were printed front and back on a single sheet of paper.

WWE Cake – Since LeAnn Rogers, owner of Next Level Cakery did such an awesome job with my 3-year-old son’s angry bird cake, it was no question on using her services again to make my my oldest son’s WWE cake. As done for my youngest son, she also made cupcakes for his school party.

WWE Attire – Continuing on with the John Cena vs. The Rock theme, my son and I wore John Cena shirts, my husband wore The Rock shirt and my baby son wore a shirt with several wrestlers.

WWE Decorations – The party room (Matt Ross Community Center) was setup with four main tables: two tables with blue plastic tableclothes and the other two with red encompassing the WresleMania colors.  The WWE Centerpiece was purchased from Birthday Express and I attached 4-balloons, red, blue, black and white to include the RAW colors. In addition, I bought  6′ 5″ cardboard standup of The Rock and John Cena. And for that wow factor, I purchased a John Cena vs. The Rock personalized banner (24″x 80″) that included a photo of my son. The quality of the banner was beyond my expections. I was expecting it to be printed on low-quality flimsy material that I would have to disgard after the party; boy was I wrong in so many ways. The quality of the material is extremely durable and could be used for both indoor or outdoor parties. This heavy canvas was  just as good or even better than what you would expect from businesses who specialize in custom banners. So you can imagine, the banner was such a  wow factor for our guest and will be a keep sake that will last forever.

WWE Food – Continuing on with my re-creation of WrestleMania XXVIII, I had to select the appropriate wrestling food. So, for the Ultimate Match Menu, we had the following: C.M. Punk Pizza, Turkey/Ham Sandwich Undertakers, Boom Boom Boom Lil Smokies, Nachos Libre served with Cena Chips, all gulped down with The Rockin’ Lemonade. All food items were identified with WWE food tents in which I created with Microsoft Publisher.

Wrestling Music – A WWE party is not a true party without wrestling music. So in order to elevate the mood of our wrestling event, I played age-appropriate “hard-core” music. Listed below is a sample of the music played:

  1. The Rock Entrance
  2. You Can’t See Me – The Rock
  3. You Can’t See Me
  4. Here Comes the Boom
  5. I’m Coming
  6. All I Do Is Win (clean version)
  7. Born to Win
  8. I Came to Play
  9. Great Expectations
  10. Red & Yellow
  11. Turn My Swag On
  12. Domination
  13. Born to Win
  14. Cali Swag

So come game time, the kids were hyped and ready to win!!

WWE Games – At the start of the party, the kids decided what team to join by their seat selection. The blue tables belonged to Team Rock and the red tables, Team Cena. So at the completion of the games, which ever team had the most points, won WrestleMania XXVIII. At the time of my son’s party, The Rock was crowned the winner; so the question is, does the championship belt remains with Team Rock or does Team Cena finally triumph? Keep reading to find out!!

1. Name that Wrestler – modified version of the Pre-Fame Nicknames; the idea of this game is to match the wrestler to their pre-fame nickname. I used 18 of the 22 wrestlers listed on the WWE website for this game, simply because that’s the total number of photos I could get on a poster board. I found/print photos of each wrestler on a 4.25 x 5.5 Avery Quarter-Fold Greeting Card for each team. On the poster board, I had the pre-fame nickname of each wrestler and the children worked as a group to match the wrestler to their correct name.

2. Wrestling Jeopardy – My husband foundd an interactive Powerpoint Jeopardy program that included a customizable category listings, a timer, question/answer sections and most importantly,  when a question was asked, it would disappear from the main screen. With an attempt to simplify the game, I purchased answer buzzers. With that being said, it still was hard to determined who hit their buzzer first especially with the children being so excited to play. However, there are mored advanced answer buzzers available in the marketplace that clearly specify who hit the buzzer first.

3. Minute To Win It – To boost the competitiveness between Team Rock and Team Cena, I incorporated the below Minute To Win It games. My husband find a cool egg timer online that I was able to download on my computer and project on to the screen. This made it a lot easier for the kids to see how much time that had left to complete the task. Also much simply that relying on a cell phone timer.

3.1 Baby Blockin’: Stack 5 wooden baby blocks on top of plastic plate balanced on top of the head;  all 5 blocks must remain stacked vertically for 3 seconds within the 60-second time limit.

3.2 Suck it Up (Modified) – Player must use only a flexible straw in his or her mouth to suck up chocolate covered candies and transport them 1 at a time to 4 cups at another table.

3.3 Separation Anxiety – Player must separate a pile of 50 multicolored chocolate covered candies into 5 separate containers in a set color order.

So who won our WrestleMania XXVII…..drumroll please….none other than TEAM ROCK!!! Our results coincided with the WWE!!! congratulations Team Rock on another victory!

Wrestling Instructors: Once the kids were settled, I had to wrestling instructors join in on the fun by showing the kids basic wrestling moves.

  1. great idea. I was thinking of doing my sons invitations like this. can you give me some more info on how you created them. please and thank you

    • Hello! What specific questions do you have? Previously stated, I used Microsoft Publisher to create the invitations on an 8.5 x 11 size paper which yielded 4-tickets/page (so each ticket would be 2.125 x 11). Front: The photo of John Cena and The Rock is an image I found on the internet as well as the Get Ready to Rumble. Then I pretty much added text boxes with color in the background with the necessary text containing the party details. Back: Image I found on the internet. So the front/back image was printed on one page then cut into individual tickets. I hope that helps!

  2. Thank you so much for posting this. I have just about ZERO degrees of creativity and this will help me out ALOT. thank you so much!
